WITL Day 2

Good evening all!  I am doing this now at 7:24pm because I can tell you how the rest of my night will go.  I will hop into bed because it is the coolest room in the apartment, get myself situated and read my catching fire book!  Hopefully I can finish it tonight.  Then I will go to bed nice and early, so I am well rested for my double at work tomorrow!

Now this is how my day went.......5:30am Zoe crawls into bed with us, asks for cartoons and I said no because it was 5:30.  I have my limitations.  I wanted at least 30 more minutes of sleep.  She starts crying and I give in because I was just so comfortable the TV would keep her quiet just a little while longer.  Cartoons are on and then Zoe is saying something about buggies......then I feel Richie jump out of bed and squeal.  So then I pop my head up like "seriously wth its 5:30", then he screams and points to the ceiling and there is this huge ass palmetto bug on our ceiling.  Well great, I then jump out of bed and watch it.  There is no way to get it down unless we want it crawling all over our stuff!  So Richie comes back with a Tupperware and a lid.  I get the broom and push it towards him.  He freaks out, screaming like a girl and loses the bug.  Zoe is on the floor screaming "go away buggy this is our home" over and over again.  and I just stand there thinking it is way to early for this shit.  Guess I wont be going back to bed.  We lost the bug, yay so we had to buy traps today.  Love living in Florida.  Those bugs are everywhere during the summer.
See how huge that sucker is!

So now we are all up.  What to do?? Richie runs to Starbucks to get us coffee because he didn't make us any the night before.
6:00 am--I am uploading my pics on the comp to do my WITL post and find out my cord for my camera is shot so it takes me ten million tries to get my pics uploaded.  Seriously, it has to do this when I think its a cool idea to do a picture diary thing!  oh my goodness!
You would think a venti would help me get thru the day, not so much.  Getting up at 5:30 am kicks my butt.
So I'm on the comp, cursing at my camera and its hotter then you know what in the apartment....

That early in the morning!!  crazy.  So I decide to get something done, so 6:45ish I start the dishes..

I had to unload it first to get rid of the sink that was full of dishes that Richie didn't touch while I was at work the night before and he was home watching TV......I'm not bitter or anything.  Now for breakfast.  Finally get to eat those new york bagels!

They were yummy! but I couldn't decide if i wanted savory or sweet, so I did both :) Now the today show had the story of the girl that got paralyzed on her bachlorette party.  Well they finally got married and came back from their honeymoon.  So I really wanted to see that story.  Zoe proceeds to throw a fit because she wants to watch dino dan... cept dino dan isn't on at the butt crack of  dawn. So fit number one starts....it was a good one.

She runs to daddy after I put her in time out in her bedroom.
7:30 I decide to do the egg scramble project.  You take panty hose and put a raw egg in it and spin it around like 15-20 times.  My arms got a good work out, but it did not work :(.  My hard boiled eggs were normal.  but at least I got a good work out.
9am--Go pick up my friend Becky lake and head to work.

This is my view 5 days a week.  See all those boxes a the very end on the cart...that is my pull for the day.  60 cakes I had to pull.  The freezer is waaaaaay on the other side of the restaurant and I have to drag that sucker back to the bakery and unload all that crap before we open at 11:15 (now our Reese's cake weighs 9lbs a cake, I carry two cakes at a time to get things unloaded and in the back coolers, so I have muscles from working in this place lol).  I worked with Angie today and told her about our project and said I have to take a picture of us together and her response was "yay, I wore my good hair today!" haha. needless to say we got busy and by the time 2pm rolled around and my manager waved at me I ran out the building and headed home! (no crazies today, or debt collectors calling.  Darn! but I'm there all day tomorrow so I'm sure I'll have a few to share with you ladies!)
3:30--home and fighting with Zoe to get her clothes back on that she just stripped out of, so we could go to target.  I bribed her with popcorn.  Our little treat every time we go.

Then we head to the mall to kill some time, it gets old sitting in our apartment and its too hot outside to let Zoe play at an outdoor playground.  110 degrees with the heat index today!  I hate Florida!
So after that we head to my friends house to drop something off.  I'm bummed, she is having a mary kay party tomorrow and I work every weekend so it is hard for me to get off.  Then my manager goes and puts me on a double, so there is no way I could go to the party :(  I better make tips tomorrow!  We head home, I make dinner, put Zoe to bed....get on here to blog.  Bummed I love Lucy marathon doesn't start until tomorrow.  Now I am off to bed to read!  Happy Weekend ladies!!

WITL day 1 8/4

Good morning all!  This is a day late, but we got up early today so there is nothing else to do!

Zoe got in bed with me at 2:30am but actually slept and we woke up at 6:58am which is vast improvement from the last few days!
 Cartoons and milk in bed
a rarity: Zoe cuddling with mama
reading mother goose 15 times in a row and then Zoe telling me stop she can say it by herself....
finally coffee (and I'm too tired this morning to get it the right way!)
 picnic with Zoe
painting: a distraction while I clean out the pantry
that's just two shelves cleaned out! (all before 10 am)
Zoe cleaning her kitchen area as well.......just like mama
this one is actually my favorite of hers lol
errand time! gotta get those containers for my pantry!
My favorite the dollar store!  We then went to Aldi, but Zoe was throwing a fit because she wanted to go home and I said no.  fun stuff
this is what happens the moment we get home, I don't know where she gets it from.  It's not like I come home and strip immediately!  I can usually find her by her trails of clothes!
throwing a fit because she wanted to watch her cartoons and I wanted to watch E! news, then she got TV privileges taken away for the afternoon.
Yum, this orange chicken for lunch sure was tasty!
Growing her dino's.  Which was totally a bust!  They didn't grow at all!
 My organized pantry!
Love getting stuff in the mail
Bagels from new york!  My aunt and her fam just went and sent this to us b/c Richie got them a discount on a hotel.  I cant wait to have one for breakfast!
The rest of my day went like this, threw a fit b/c Richie wouldn't wake up and I wanted to take a nap before work, I went to work and was so grumpy didn't take any pictures.  But then got distracted by this jerk debt collector that kept calling for an employee.  He would call like every two minutes.  He threatened one of our managers, called him names.  Us in the front of the house were getting sick of him calling so he called again another manager was in the bakery with me and I'm like "its him again!  you get it b/c I'm not!" So he gets it and was like "sir I have your message for him, I'll pass it on, stop calling and dicking around...blah blah blah then hes like OK I'll give you his number...write it down....407-613 spell out the rest, you ready ASSHOLE." and then proceeds to hang up.  ahhh so professional my managers are.  Anyway it got him to stop, thank goodness.  I was phased at 9pm but didn't leave until 9:30, got home, ate and ending my night with the 2nd hunger games book!

Yes my day was boring, but its fun seeing it all put down there!

Obsession Thursday--Pantry

Number one on my list is complete!  My pantry is cleaned out, and organized!  The before pictures can be found on lists.  Today first thing in the morning I started undoing everything and quickly ran to the dollar store to pick up some bins to store the little things in.  I love how it turned out!

ahhhhhh I feel so much better that its organized!  Now in my future home, one that has a huge kitchen I would like to have a walk in pantry.  Oh the things I could do with a walk in pantry, or even an entire room dedicated to pantry space!!  I surely wouldn't have to store all my appliances (and I have a lot of them) above my kitchen cabinents!

Does anyone else have an obsession with having their canned and boxed foods organized??

Total Fail

So this morning I found an interesting recipe with potatoes and eggs.  Yum right, who doesn't like potatoes and eggs?? I think we eat a lot of eggs but who cares, it has nutrients we need!  So tonight I tried it out, and was really hungry and really looking forward to runny, yummy egg yolks on my potato and ham and cheese.  So after Zoe went to bed I got to working.  It took a few minutes to make, but I was soooo hungry.  I quickly pulped my sorry tiny looking potatoes and chopped up my ham (which was really tasty) and threw the ham and cheese and some butter, salt and pepper in the hole of my potato.  Then i cracked an egg in it and one egg did not stay in.  So I topped it with cheese anyway.  The recipe said to bake it at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes until egg whites are set.  OK done, now on to the pulp from the potato, I added more cheese to it, salt and pepper and ham.  Then I added an egg and mixed it up. Threw it in my muffin pan and threw it in the oven.  Yeah I totally forgot to spray everything!
Here are the puffs, that forgot to spray so they stuck like a mother and came out in pieces.  Still yummy.
See right there in the middle??? That would be the egg not in the potato! and egg whites all over! ugh!
Ok now to top it off, the yummy yolky runiness?? nope.  It cooked all the way thru!  Wth, I will try this again and leave it in for a shorter time, I baked it for 20 minutes.  They still taste yummy, I ate them both.  I should have saved one for the hubbie but I was hungry and now I am too full to finish the rest....eh oh well, he can eat it when I make it again and it turns out right!

You can find the original recipe here at home cooking in montana.  I must say hers are much, much prettier then mine :)

Week in the life...of me

So on one of my many blog perusing days I found this concept of a "week in the life".  Found here at aliedwards.  I thought "what a fun concept"!  A few summers ago I met a bunch of fantastic ladies on a little, well maybe huge site called twilight moms.  From there I found some mom's in their 20's.  We then branched off and a new site of twilight20smoms was founded.  I developed some great friendships with these ladies and went to them if I had any mom problems.  We all have a love for crafting and twilight.  Like there is anything better then those two things, well besides our kids!  I have met only one of these ladies in person but we converse on facebook often.  We all have busy lives and have strayed.  Which is typical and totally understandable.  So when I saw this project I figured we could all get together and either do it on fb or on our blogs, which most of us had and some might have had to create.

The basic concept is to document your everyday lives.  The little things, things you might not mention to anyone or a picture you don't put up on fb right away.  On the alie edwards site she has a bunch of templates and journal type things to do, but I think we are just going to do ours thru pictures and little captions on our blogs.  I'm really looking forward to this, because it will be my last big project of the summer.  Before school starts back up and the holidays  come at us full force!

I cant wait to see what all my favorite ladies are up to!

Hurricane time!

So if anyone lives in Florida, or the east coast you all know about hurricane season.  It last for a few months and a real scary pain in the butt.  I live in central Florida so we are lucky in the aspect we don't get hit often.  We might get the little end tails of it.  Still scary.  I remember when I was little I would freak out and put all my "worldly" possessions in a big hamper so in case we had to vacate our home I had it all in that one spot.  We never got hit bad, except for one year.  Charlie, Ivan and I cant remember the third one, but it got so bad everyone had their power out for weeks.  We lucked out and had ours out for two weeks, no one could work either because our jobs didn't have power.  Gas was limited and you would have to wait online for a good hour to get some gas before it ran out.  No one was prepared.  We even had to have power companies from other states to come down and help us.  My dad borrowed a generator to run air in his house because he had the dogs and they would die from the heat.  My dog clementine got so bad she couldn't even bend her legs.  (she was old and the heat was just too hard on her, she passed shortly after :( )

Well this year I am going to be prepared.  Its better to be prepared then not.  We are in an upstairs apartment this year and heat rises so I am hoping we don't get hit by this Emily that is threatening to come to Florida.  Below is the local guide so that all of you can have a safety kit as well.

I already have 4 jugs of water, emergency candles, matches, first aid kit assembled, dry milk, cooler, flashlight, battery radio and blankets.

Still need to get all important documents in a waterproof bag, canned foods and some empty milk jugs.  To store more water to use. Batteries, and car charger. Its crazy to even think about this stuff, but it does come in handy.

Stay safe this hurricane season!

National Cheesecake Day

Did you know that July 30th is National Cheesecake day?  It is!  I know I should post something about cheesecake but the truth of the matter is...I work with cheesecake 5 days a week.  And July 30th is one of our busiest days, that and mothers day.  So I kinda get sick of cheesecake, that and I am a perfectionist when I bake and cheesecakes are a pain in the butt.  I'm not gonna lie.  If I get a crack, I'll throw the whole thing out.  Stupid, I know but I have done it before when something doesn't turn out my way!  You know the phrase "It's my way or the highway"?  Yeah that is my mantra. haha.

I know I am a few days late in posting this, but weekends get busy and I get tired :(.  So instead of making a cheesecake I tried out two new recipes.  I made carrot cake muffins and a cookies and creme brownie.  I also had homemade peanut butter cups slated for the lineup but I got too tired.  (those will be made probably today).  I made them to bring into work to feed all my coworkers.  It was supposed to be super busy so I didn't want everyone to get tired and grumpy, so what better way then to put some sugar into them!

These came out delish, not overly sweet, but there was flavor.  I doubled the recipe so that I could have some extra to keep at home.  Original recipe can be found at kingarthurflour.
I sprayed my cupcake liners and the muffins came out great, I think I will do that from now on when using cupcake liners.  If you can't find the pretty white sugar they used (I could not) you can use sugar in the raw.  Its all sugar, I used some gold decorative sugar I found.  Sugar in the raw would probably be cheaper.  If give its a nice sweet crunch at the top.  And if you are like me, you go to two grocery stores trying to find pretty sugar and end up paying $3 for a small bottle, just go to Ross! I went yesterday and found the exact same thing, but in a bigger bottle and $.50 cheaper!  Ha, go figure. It was in white, blue and gold!  I think I'll go back when I get paid and store them for later use!

Cookies and Creme Brownie.  Original recipe can be found at fahrenheit350.
So mine came out more like a cake then a brownie.  When I first saw this pin on pinterest I thought maybe it was a chocolate torte of some kind.  I don't know why mine came out blonde, when the websites came out chocolate.  I followed it to a tee.  Or at least I'm pretty sure I did.  Everyone at work loved it.  I am not a big fan of sweets.  I am a baker, mainly I because I like having to follow a specific recipe and decorating, but I am not big on chocolate and the chocolate on top of this was a lot.

Now if you like chocolate and pretzels and peanut butter then I suggest this recipe.  I can eat one and be satisfied for sweets for a month.  Everyone and I mean EVERYONE (except my daughter) loved these cupcakes.  You can get the original recipe at didsomeonesaypartysite.  I made them for my dad at fathers day and they were delish, I just had to share them.  Fits in with the sweets theme.  I have a few mods tho to the recipe.

I think all sweets should be made from scratch. or at least semi homemade.  It tastes so much better!
